Amazon to Build its second Head Quarters outside it’s Hometown

Amazon is searching for a site to built its second headquarters in North America. Although it’s first headquarters is in Seattle, the new one will also be equally important and employ as many as 50,000 people.

Geek-wire Co-Founder Todd Bishop, “This in many respects is a wake up call for Seattle and the region”.

He also said that e-commerce giants presence is taken for granted by many in state, local community doesn’t shy away from complaining  about increasing traffic and housing prices often attributed to amazon’s growth.

Amazon’s investment in Seattle between 2010 and 2016 added around $38 billions to states economy, and amazon is promising to spend more than $5 billions on whatever site it chooses for it’s second headquarters.

The company said it is looking for a metropolitan area with more than 1million population and can attract skilled workers.

They’re also looking for a business friendly environment place which is not the case in Seattle, according to Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Maud Daudon.

When asked about Amazon statements to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray said,"Amazon is not leaving Seattle”. "I mean, Amazon is growing here.  There are buildings that have been permitted, that are going to be built in the next few years.  Amazon is already leasing space."

In a statement issued shortly after amazon’s announcement, Mayor said his office will immediately begin conversations with amazon around their needs and company’s long term plans for Seattle.
